For example:

will show:

The {{para|category type}} parameter inserts additional text between the phrases "This category is for" and "[[Wikipedia:Stub|stub articles]] relating to ...", so using {{para|category type|biographical}} will give "This category is for biographical [[Wikipedia:Stub|stub articles]] relating to ...". This parameter is only valid if {{para|article}} is also set.

There is also an optional parameter {{para|WikiProject}} which links to a relevant WikiProject page. Again, this is only valid if {{para|article}} is also set. For example:

If the {{para|category}} parameter is blank or absent, a hidden link to [[Wikipedia:WikiProject Stub sorting/Tracker for stub categories with no permcats|this page]] is added; such category pages are listed [[Special:WhatLinksHere/Wikipedia:WikiProject Stub sorting/Tracker for stub categories with no permcats|here]].

===Incorrect parameters===
If the unrecognised parameter {{para|newstub}} is present and non-blank, a hidden link to [[Wikipedia:WikiProject Stub sorting/Tracker for parent stub categories with stub tag|this page]] is added; such category pages are listed [[Special:WhatLinksHere/Wikipedia:WikiProject Stub sorting/Tracker for parent stub categories with stub tag|here]].
