Usage

This template should be used to link in years that are part of game articles that have no associated day of the year. If an exact date is known, the date (with year) should be displayed using appropriate date formatting. Otherwise, the year should be linked to the wikipages of "YYYY in games", where YYYY is the year.

This template takes two parameters. The first parameter is a year, and provides the following wikilink for this process [[{{{1}}} in games|{{{1}}}]].

The second optional parameter is a string of text that will appear as the linked text in the document. This is often appropriate per Wikipedia's style guidelines for linking of dates to avoid "surprise" links. If this parameter is not included, the text will default to the year in the first parameter.

The correct usage of the template is

{{Gy|year}}

or

{{Gy|year|link text}}

Examples

• {{Gy|2010}} gives 2010 (which links to 2010 in games)

• {{Gy|2010|released in 2010}} gives released in 2010
